Fern Ramirez was born in Fond du Lac, Wis., on Aug. 12, 1926. She attended Carroll College, Marquette University and Marian College for her formal learning years and married Tom Ramirez on Sept. 20, 1947. Her various teaching positions ranged from first grade through high school and even Taycheedah Correctional Institution.
She was invited to attend Allied Authors’ meetings through Beverly Butler Olson, a childhood playmate, and has been a member since 1956. She values being a part of this evolving group of working writers and counts it as a privilege to have known Larry Sternig, Beverly Butler Olson, Ann Powers Schwartz and Harry Schwartz, Don Emerson, Aubrey Young and others. While living in Florida, she managed to keep in touch with the Allied Authors and attended meetings whenever vacationing in Wisconsin.
Her writing consists of short news articles and op-ed pieces. She also wrote a series of Sunday school stories with lesson plans and has tinkered with a children’s novel. She has a daughter, a son who passed away in 2011, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
